INQUIRE: SIGN Specifier

The SIGN specifier asks what treatment for plus signs is in effect during a connection. It takes the following form:

SIGN = sn

sn

Is a scalar default character expression that is assigned one of the following values:

'PLUS'

If the file is connected with addition of plus signs in effect.

'SUPPRESS'

If the file is connected with suppression of plus signs in effect.

'PROCESSOR_DEFINED'

If the file is connected with plus signs added at the discretion of the processor.

'UNDEFINED'

If there is no connection, or if the connection is not for formatted input/output.
