Creating a Project Using the Intel Advisor GUI

To launch the Intel Advisor GUI, use the advixe-gui command after you set up your command line environment .

A project serves as a reusable container for your application. It contains the location of the target executable and its associated properties, as well as a previously collected result from Intel Advisor tool analysis.

To run Intel Advisor tools in its GUI, you need to first create a project and specify its properties. To create a project, after you launch the Intel Advisor GUI:

  1. Choose File > New > Project... or click the equivalent toolbar icon or the Welcome page's New Project... link.
  2. In the Create a Project dialog box, specify a Project name and browse to select a directory Location. Project files should be located in a different directory than your source directories, such as a directory above the source directories or in a separate projects directory. You must have write permission to the specified directory and its subdirectories.
  3. Click the Create Project button to display the Project Properties dialog box. After you create a new project, the project is opened, allowing you to specify its properties.
  4. In the Analysis Target tab, specify the location of the target as well as other project properties - see Specifying Project Properties Using the Intel Advisor GUI.

To maximize the size of the Intel Advisor GUI window, press the F11 key or click View > Full Screen. To return it to its smaller size, press F11 or press Esc.
