Opening and Closing a Project Using the Intel Advisor GUI

To launch the Intel Advisor GUI, use the advixe-gui command after you set up your command line environment .

Identifying Whether a Project is Open

After you open a project, the path and project file name appear in the Intel Advisor GUI title bar. In the Welcome page, the current project name appears to the right of Current project:.

If a project is not open, the title bar displays <no current project> and the Welcome page does not display the Current project:.

If you exit the Intel Advisor GUI and leave a project open, that project will automatically be opened the next time you launch the Intel Advisor GUI (persistence).

Open an Existing Project

Before you can specify project properties or run Intel Advisor tools, open the project. After you create a project, the project is automatically opened and the Project Properties dialog box appears.

To open an existing project, after you launch the Intel Advisor GUI:

  1. Choose File > Open > Project... or click the equivalent toolbar icon or the Welcome page's Open Project... link.
  2. In the Open a Project dialog box, browse to the correct directory and select the project file, which has a suffix of .advixeproj.
  3. The Intel Advisor GUI title bar displays the path and project file name.
  4. You can now specify the project properties or run Intel Advisor tools while the project is opened.

Only one Intel Advisor project can be open at a time. If you open multiple projects without closing one, the last project opened is used.

Closing a Project

To close a project after you open it:

  1. Choose File > Close Project... or click the equivalent toolbar icon. Alternatively, you can right-click on a project's name in the Project navigator and select Close Project from the context menu.
  2. The Intel Advisor GUI title bar displays <no current project>.
